Default what to use for pre filter

I have a custom built sumped tank and an external walbro pump with the corvette filter/reg. what can I use for a prefilter before the pump? it is plumbed with -6an line and fittings. I have a russell inline 40 micron filter, is that to restrictive?

I used this Aeromotive pre-filter on my Camaro swap:

The built in shut off is handy on a gravity feed system when doing fuel system maintenance.

The main thing about most of the inline pumps is that they hate to suck, but they push very well. Because of that most of the pre-filters are fairly free flowing and just try to keep the big chunks from reaching the pump. This one is 100 micron which is quite a bit larger than a 40 micron filter.

John,

I like that filter/valve combo.

I went with the Earl's 100 micron filter (pretty cheap from Summit) fearing the 40 micron might be too restrictive for the gravity side. The 40 uses a filter element, where as the 100 uses a screen, so I suspect it will provide better un-pressurized flow.
