Default Would 275s be ok on my 17x8.5? Anyone with y2ks please help.

I have c5 y2k rims from ebay on my car and don't know if they are 17x8.5 or 17x9.0. I measured the rim width from the outside and got 9.5 inches without counting the little edge lip. If any of you have 17x9.0s I'd appreciate if you could let me know the outside witdh of your rim. If my rims do turn out to be 17x8.5s would some 275/40/17s be fine on there? Tirerack says 9.0 minimum for most of the 275s including the one I want. Thanks.

if you measured the rim width and got 9.5" I would lean towards thinking they are 17x9.5 . just my .02

They go by the tire bead section not the outside width

they should fit fine on an 8.5" rim. i had 275s on a 7" wide rim and it bulged like a mother ****** but it did fit. they were nitto 555Rs tho so they run narrow

Ok well 8.5 should be alright like he said above, but putting 275s on a 7inch wheel is just retarded lol.

No. 9" is the minimum for a 275/40ZR17.

you could go with a 265/40/17 that should fit just fine and its just a hair lower profile than a 275.

A 245/45R17 is the PERFECT front tire for that wheel. And maintains OEM Diameter.

I have 245/45/17s on the front but snice my rears are almost gone and the fronts are still about 65-70%, I'd rather just get wider new tires for the rears. I don't really like the look of my 245s on my rims though, I would like a more buldgy look for the rears. Anyone else running 275s on 8.5s

i have 275x40x17's 555r's on my 17x8.5 Z06 wheels. when i bought the wheels i was told they were 9.5's but they say 8.5 on them. by no means do the tires look too wide for the wheels. i would do it again because it doesn't appear they are bulging.
