Default NEWBIE here with a quick question

I have a 2000 LS1 engine that I am planning on putting on a silverado. I was trying to accomplish at least 430-450RWHP on it before installing it. What would be the best and not so costly way to do this? I don't want a wild cam, just something mild, if so. PLEASE help me out.

thanks,

Those numbers won't happen cam only. The best way to do it is either nitrous or a good head/cam package.

Point me to the way for the heads and cam package. I don't know squat about these engines yet, but learning.

Give me some things I should go for. Like size of cam and brand, Heads and what springs and valves I need, the whole works so I can get this done. Please.

MS3 "Terminator" Heads w/ MS3 Cam should get you in that range... Then spray it to make more!

I would definitely skip the "terminator" heads, go with some ported ls6 heads or some ported 5.3 heads. Give TSP a call and they can help point you in the right direction, they are a sponsor on here. http://www.texas-speed.com

It's release has been pushed back again. And why are recommending something that has not been tested yet The only #'s we have have are the ones supplied by Weiand If this thing did what they say I believe we would have seen it by now......

As stated above the best heads you can afford with a good matching cam. Then you will be limited by your intake so look at a FAST 90/92 or go LS6 if your on a budget.

Oh... and don't forget the bolt ons FIRST

the problem man, is that you said you dont want a big cam, 430-450 whp through a truck drivetrain is going to cost...i dk...20% drivetrain loss maybe, u will probably need at least 550hp at the flywheel to be safe, i mean thats another 200 flywheel horse over stock. so either you spray it or you have to get a big cam with some heads that will flow.( member also that you need heads and cam to match to eachothers strong points. you dont want to just go buy "a good cam" and "good heads")...what you do is personal preferance. cost effective than i would say nitrous, but just my personal opinion is that if you want that kind of power you are gonna need a big cam, heads to match, and that cam is going to require a fairly high stall. if you are highly against the big cam then a final option may be....smaller cam 224 -228 range, some nice heads, fast 90mm throttle body and intake, underdrive pulley, longtube headers and full exhaust, full air intake system......all that will get you probably between 380-410whp. honestly i really dont think you are going to reach your hp goals without spraying it or just getting a bigger cam with all the stuff that i mentioned. then agian you could always bolt on a supercharger or turbo.....cost effective id say #1 spray #2big cam with all those other parts #3 forced induction with full bolt ons....i dk i hope that helps man.
