Default Xsta z 28 ok 305 question

Before you delete this to start with im new at this sorry I didn't see your STICKY im just trying to research this before I buy. I thought this is what fourms are for to get Technical Advice. In your STICKY you have the Nitto page on it......tell me why it says 305/45/18 recomended rim size 9.5-11.5 and the P305/40 & 305/35/18 recomended rim size 10-12. I don't know thats why I posted this question.

I hate to ask again but rim size has CHANGED. Im sorry I got ahold of my friend that I bought the rims from and he informed me that the rims are 9 1/2" NOT 9" like I thought.......Now what is the largest size tire that will fit a 9 1/2" Rim.......295,305?

I KNOW NOW THAT 315'S WILL NOT FIT.

I've heard from some of yaw that you can put a 315 on stock 17" SS & WS6 Rims. All the Pictures that I have seen with 315's were on 11" GS ZR1 Wheels. Also does anyone have any pics of any of these sizes on a 9 1/2" rim I really want to see what they look like before I buy. Also If 305's will fit will I have a problem with the tire hiting the fender well, Because im fixing to buy Eibach Sportline Springs which will lower the front 1.6" and the rear 1.4". SORRY to have to ask all this again just want to be sure I get the right stuff. Thanks and any Pic will be helpful.

THANKS IN ADVANCE XSTA Z 28

Tire Rack has a good site that tells you what size tire will fit on what size rim. Pick out a tire then go to specs. it will show you what size rim the tire will fit on. Hope this helps.

The reason a 305/45 can fit on a smaller rim is because the sidewall is much larger on a 45 series than their 35 and 40 series tires. More sidewall has more room to buldge before it gets dangerous.

Same reason people can put 31x10.50-15s on a 15x8 and it looks normal, because of the large sidewall.

275/35ZR18 is best for a 9" wide wheel.

A 285/35ZR18 technically does not fit, so anything wider is a no no . .

Jeez, you make me sound like a mean bastard . . .

To answer your 1st question. Because the sidewall is that much bigger on the 45 series compared to a 35 series (by 10%). The sidewall isn't flexing as much/less stress.
