Default Vrx4?

So i believe that i am going to go with the vrx4 cam. I have a 99 z28 with longtubes, ls6 intake and p&p throttle body. Its a m6 stock gear also. I was wondering how many of you guys on here are running this cam and what you think of it. I did do a search on this cam but nothing came up for me. All that kept coming up was stuff for the vrx3 and the vrx5 lol. I was just wanting to know what your guys mods are and what kind of power you put down. I was also wondering how your driveability was. Ive been told that its a pretty good daily driver because that is what it is going to be. Also how often would you have to replace the springs? Thank you guys in advance!

this cam should make 5HP more than the VRX3 prob same in most other respects... i know they use comp lobes, but i think i heard its actually a comp cam too... not positive

springs shouldn't be a problem as long as you have something rated for .625+
should have really good street manors

I have a cam that is almost identical to the vrx4 and love it. It acts so well on the street. I have heard nothing but good things about the VRX4. When i was looking i was set on a 228R on 112 or the VRX4 but worked with a local shop who did custom Comp grinds and they set me up with basically a VRX4 grind but with 2 degrees advance timing thrown in heres a dyno a while back with listed mods minus the 85mm TB and South Bend clutch ( with your mods and good tune ill bet you see 390+ rwhp)

Ok Good thats what i was hoping for. My car now puts down 339 hp and 342 hp untuned. I was hoping for a lil over 390 but would love to see 400 but i know that is wishful thinking lol. Thanks for all the input guys. Keep it coming!

I have the VRx4, like said, excellent street manners even on a tune not designed for driveabilty but for max power.

I have a m6/12 bolt and power is in the 380 range but it will be retuned soon so I may get more.

The exhaust does get louder with a cam, this one seems pretty tame compared to others. I just felt the jump to the VRx5 was too much for what I wanted.

As for Springs, I used what Vengence told me to use, which was comp cam 918's (revised) and reuse the steel retainers. As for replacing, it should be done ever couple of seasons or if over 15k miles.

Now a spring will not persay fail at this range, but anything else except a stock cam does use up the springs and my plan is to check them over next winter, I should have 12k or so and I bet the springs have degraded some. But then again there are people with 30k on T-rex cams and not changing the springs but one dropped valve will ruin your year.

I dont have a UD pulley either and would likely be closer to the 400 Wheel range with it not sure if you have one already or not. Plus I have Independant Rear Suspension which usually puts a litlle less to the dyno I hear. Im still calling around 390+ wheel for you with a great power range on a good tune.

Doing it with the cam will be the easiest because you have to take your old pulley off anyway..only reason why i dont have one is the shop got the wrong one in stock (the GTO takes a dif one than the f bods) and i was scheduled to put it in that weekend so i decided id catch it another time it looks like itl only take me an afternoon to do when im ready

You already know I'm running that cam and how much I like it. I'm going back in about two weeks to put it back on the dyno since the tune is finished to see how much I picked up. I'll post it up when I get done.

Well, I got some 1/8 mile times today. Would have like to have had 1/4 mile times, but they wouldn't let us run it all the way.
Best 60ft--1.63
Best ET---7.63
Car still has a little more left in it. Track prep wasn't that great so I spun on just about every launch. 13psi finally got me some sort of traction. The cam pulls really hard. Made me really big. I'm very happy with this cam.
