Default New Exhaust ideas...what do you guys think?

I have a 2000 Firebird formula and want to redo my exhaust which is stock right now. I was thinking of these 2 prts.

Headers/cats/y-pipe
http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=30047

Catback Exhaust
http://www.borla.com/applications/lo..._System/14780/

maybe this y-pipe from borla if if would fit better with the catback
http://www.borla.com/applications/lo...aY-Pipe/60059/

Do you guys think this is a good pick? I know you guys have some awesome ideas and amazing exhaust systems of your own so if you have any input please let me knw. Also let me knw if you think SLP's catback system is a good buy compared to borlas.

Thank you

Honestly, those SLP headers are one of the worst fitting designs around...they're a bitch to get in and hang super low. There are MUCH better options in the same price range, I'd look into American Racing Headers (site sponsor as well!). They are arguably the best headers around...I've owned other top-tier headers in the past and now have ARH and couldn't be happier with their fit/finish and customer service.

Give ARH a call @ (631) 608-1986 or check them out at AmericanRacingHeaders.com
Do a search on here and you'll find many praises and opinions on their products

As far as the cat-back...they will all give very similar gains and basically sound/price/quality will be the deciding factors. That Borla isn't a bad choice but many say that it can be very raspy, especially if you throw on headers without cats. You can also try checking out LS1Sounds.com to hear many cat-backs available for our cars.

The slp headers are a new design i hear that dont hang as low and fit better. Id check out texas speed though. They have some stainless steel headers that i have heard good things about and are fairly cheap in price.

Why would you go with a custom y-pipe? ARH makes the best y-pipe out there

Custom is still better than mass produced imo

$1100 for a catback??

my god

there are catbacks on the market that are 1/2 that and still make just as much power.

borla is a $1000 stainless cutout.

money better spent on other things.

agreed...kindda

but i see alot of guys running borla catbacks...but they leave the cutout full open all the time.

so basically they paid $800+ for a cutout with sexy tips.

i built my own TDs for about $300 with mufflers....and it sounds better than any catback i've heard or owned.
and i've had about 8 different exhausts on my cars over the years.

magnaflow (lt1 w/ cats)
cutout on magnaflow (lt1 w/cats)
stock w/flowmaster (ls1 w/cats)
orp with magnaflow (ls1)
LTs, orp, magnaflow (ls1)
LTs, orp, Cam, magnaflow
LTs, orp Cam, dual bullet dynomouth out the back
LTs, Cam, 3" xpipe, magnaflow 4x9 mufflers dumped
