Default Another Tranny mount Q

Alright, so I was trying to find a stock rubber tranny mount without having to go to a dealer and pay $100..and i stumbled across something interesting. I found where one guy went to Napa, and after being told that there were no "LS1 mounts in stock", he located a mount under "1996 Camaro". He said it fit and worked fine, and only cost him $11. Does anyone else know about LT1 and LS1 mounts being extremely similar? Here is a pic of the actual mount for the 1996.

Can anyone confirm that this looks almost identical and would work? This could save some people money if it works.

IIRC, you'll need to pick up a new nut at the hardware store since it's a different size.

The factory mount has a hook built in, so if it breaks, it will not separate too far. If I didn't have all this snow, I would get a pic of one on my car. And it's around $100.00 at the dealer. BS!! That mount shown is a mount that GM has been using on 350s, PGs, etc since the 60's.

Depends on what mount you are using. The 1le stock mount completely SPLIT in two. The ES mount has this safety feature, the replacement that is crappy.. doesnt either. Broke both of them in frikin two.

Yeah, I know its not the official LS1 tranny mount, but some guy has been running one on his car for a good while without any problems. I think I'm going to pick one up and try it out. I'll see if this is a cheap fix that works. I will report my findings here.
