i will post pics when i get home. i just took a piece of flat bar, bent it to the right agle and welded it to the floor of the car. before we welded to the floor we drilled holes and bolted the shifter to the flat bar. welded the back side of the bolts and then took apart and welded in the car. this was the shifter can still be unbolted if needed. i cut the automatic shifter console so the shifter would fit through but i have not gone back and cleaned it up any. when i get home i will take several pics for you so you can see how i did mine.

I'm actually planning on deleting the center console when I get back to it, If someone has a new RMVB hurst quarterstick and wants my A4 center console and hurts rmvb quarterstick that's already all set up and on the A4 the base plate I'd be willing to do a swap for a new quarterstick and a little $ since all the work is already done with it.
I just have to look at the shifter and make sure the cable can come off @ the shifter so I don't have to mess with redoing that as it was a little bit of a pita.

This doesn't help much, but my car isn't home so I can't take you a picture.
Here is what I did...
I cut the stock bracket and we welded my shifter to the bracket and trimmed the console a bit.
I have had 2 speed, 3 speed, and AOD trannies in this car.
Looks better than anything else I have seen as well.
You most likely will have to either use a bar as stated above or cut a factory shifter bracket.
