One more tip. I just did my heads too and I decided to pull the oil pan plug just before I started the engine and I'm glad I did because some of that water that went into the cylinders got past the rings and into the pan. When I pulled the oil pan plug the first thing that came running out was WATER not oil since oil floats on water. If your not changing your oil during the head swap you should at least pull the oil drain plug and see if there is any water in there that needs to be drained out first.

Make sure you get all of that gasket debris out, too. If some of it gets stuck b/w the piston and the cylinder wall get a rag and put some grease on it and wipe it out. The grease will pick up the little flecks of gasket material.

Don't forget to get all the water out of the head bolt holes also. If you don't the water can cause problems when you put the bolts in.

I bought one of those spray can "keyboard dusters" that has the long nozzle on the end of it. Just stick it down in each hole and blow it out. I got mine at walmart for like $3 each.

The best tool for this job is a 5+ horsepower wet dry vac It'll suck up all that crap, even what's sitting on top of the top piston rings, between the piston and the cylinder wall.... Get one.
