Which Rearend, MOSER 12, Strange12, Ford 9?
I'm going to be getting a new clutch and I want to go with a 4:10 gear. So,I'm planning to replace the Rearend before it gives out.
Which Brand or Style should I get and why? Strange, Moser, Ford 9" or 12 Bolt?
Should I get a Spool or Auburn? What are the Pro's and Con's of each?
31 or 33 spline? Pro's & Con's?
Thanks for your help and recommendations!!

Well if you dont want the hassle of putting it together yourself, dont get the Moser. You can get the strange kit "ready to bolt in" for real. not sure about the 9".

If you get one and dont want it to come apart, Get a locker or spool. Lots of guys blow the 12 bolts apart.
Just becarful and dont listen to what they clam, the rears arnt as strong as they say.
Good luck

not true on the posi. You had a bad experience with yours. I have had several 6500+ launches with mine and it works just fine with NO whine or leaking.

I'm leaning towards a Strange. Better comments and customer service from what I have read. I'll need a 12 bolt soon, 'don't know if my money tree will sprout in time for the GP but keep us posted.

I've been a best of 1.48 on my 33-spline Eaton HD Posi (spraying out of the hole). Many, many 1.5's and low 1.6's on motor. I spin to 6500-7000 and dump the clutch on ET Drags. My Eaton Posi is fine still, but I'm going spool before the next time out because I don't expect it to last forever, and when they go, they seem to go expen$ive.
Were I to do it over again, I'd get a nine inch with a locker. But then again, my car is primarily drag, and not daily driver any more.

Granted, I won't be doing any Auto-X, but I'll be doing more cruising, and around the town driving than drag racing.
Strength
1.9"
2.Moser 12-bolt
3.Strange 12-bolt
Weight
1.Strange 12-bolt
2.Moser 12-bolt
3.9"
Drivetrain loss
1.Strange 12-bolt
2.Moser 12-bolt
3.9"
Ease of installation
1.Strange 12-bolt
2.Moser 12-bolt
3.9"
Cost
1.Moser 12-bolt
2.Strange 12-bolt
3. 9"
IMO, unless you're building a car that will see primarily drag duty or serious racing (which doesn't seem to be the case based on your above quote), the Strange is the way to go. It requires minimal modification to OEM and aftermarket rear suspension parts while still providing a much stronger unit than the stock 10-bolt.
For piece of mind - do consider having any preassembled setup (Moser, Strange, or otherwise) checked over by a qualified shop before installation.
