Default installing autometer oil pressure guage, quick question

Hey guys, im running up to summit racing tomorrow to get some things for the camaro. Its still running rough. But I have an Autometer Electric Oil Pressure guage without the sending unit, summit has all types of sending units,

Can you use a different brand sending unit other than the Autometer one? (Autometer one is like 30 bucks, summit has ones that are 10 bucks) will a different brand 1/4" NPT sending unit work with the autometer gauge?

Whats the part number on that Autometer? I'm not quite following you :\

I'm thinking you should be able to run them, and I'd assume even on the darn factory sending unit. When I get the part number I'll read the manual and see what I dig up, assuming someone else hasn't chimed in.

im saying, if a use a different oil pressure sending unit ( not an autometer one) and install it in the block, will it work with an autometer guage? or does the sending unit have to be made by autometer to work with the guage

Different senders run on different ohms so maybe not. It may work it just won't read right.

Plug the part number into summit.com and pick the proper part from the "Suggested parts" page. It will suggest compatable sending unit/gauge combos.

Well the installation notes on their site mention nothing of them needing a specific sending unit :\
