Default LS6 intake vs Fast Intake Track Results

I know that the fast has more dyno hp. But what about track times. Has anyone raced someone with an ls6 or fast intake. I know of 9 sec lsx cars using LS6 intakes. I would like to see track times thanks.

you've got a point. I've noticed several times many cars are running 10s and better with the ls6 intake. I've seen this many times in GMHIGHTECH performance magazine.

I think the fast may be better, but I seriously do not think it justifies the cost.

the FAST intake is not some magical modification that will take a 12 sec car and turn it into a 10sec car.

figure ~20hp....so about 2 tenths and a couple mph.

someplace you may see more gains would be a "race" that keeps the car in the higher rpm range more...say open road racing.

I say a car with just bolt ons its no worth it, but a car with atleast a cam and bolt ons u can get atleast two tenths. if you have more work done i would imagine more hp and tenths. I mean i know two guys that have six speed cars and ones running the 92/92 set up on just a bolt on trans am and his best is a 12.2 on slicks and another kid running an ls6 intake with bolt on's and radials and hes running 12.4. This may help but may not just tossing it out there

IMO for anything with a stock cam the FAST90 is a WASTE of 900 - BUT if u have a cam the 90 might do some real good - HOWEVER your cam duration and LSA is pretty conservative so id say stick with the LS6 dude. Thats $ better spent elsewhere.

i've asked a couple companies that tune ls1 cars and a fast intake is not worth the money for a stock cubic inch motor unless u want to spray nitrous since the intake has the spots for direct port

I think anything less agressive than say an MS3 wont see significant pickups off a 90 vs LS6 swap. MS3 or better and a 90 will make a real diff.

My car..... 02 T/A picked up 30HP/30TQ on the dyno just from FAST intake and throttle body only...and I went from 11.70's to 11.20's at SilverDollar Raceway, but I also changed the rear gears too. I don't think the gears accounted for all the gains, and I was now bumping off the rev limiter 100 ft before crossing the finish line.

Where im from a half a second (and +30 ponies) is quite a bit - id say for your setup it was worth the money.

Just to be clear tho - you do mean that you JUST added a FAST 90 to a car that already had heads/cam.

The OP has stock heads and a pretty conservative cam tho - quite a different setup indeed.

BS...and BS

i'm well below an MS3 cam, and am on stock heads. in comparison to my ls6 with ported TB...my gains:
- picked up 18hp and 12ftlbs at peak
- gained 5-10hp and torque from 3000rpm up to peak
- moved my peak torque DOWN 500rpm

and for those who say it really only shines in the high rpm, my cam peaked at 6300rpm.

this was on the SAME dyno....SAME DAY...TUNED before and after
