Default Decide between 3 cams.

Alright heres what im down to and here is what im looking for. I originally wanted a tsp tr228 camshaft but since alot of people have been telling me that for my goals I want something else im not sure now. I drive often but I have another car, so this is like my "fun" car. I will be getting it tuned at ttp after the cam install maybe a week or two after the install is done. I want lope, so 112 lsa im def going for no matter what. I would rather my power be spread out, and not so much top end since no matter what cam I get I intend to put the redline at 6500m just don't want to push it to much because I do not intend to change the heads or anything else. The mods will be the following: my headers and exhaust, ls2 timing chain, ls6 oil pump, cam and dual springs(either patriot golds or prc, whatever). I DO NOT intend to get heads, at least long for a long time even if I think about it so I want something that is reliable and not breaking **** later down the road. I like torque, this is why people have been steering me away from the tr228, I keep hearing it doesn't deliver as much torque as the other choices... but also doesn't need to be reved that high for the power to come in. So basically its either a tsp 228r, a vengence vrx4, or something from futral(give advice on this).

So whatever cam, im keeping the rpms around 6500, I do not want to rev that high or have the power come in super late, so what do you think? Should I stick with the 228r like I was planning, or should I switch to something else, I go to the track maybe once or twice a month in summer but this is a street car mostly. Also, what cam would be the most reliable, street friendly BUT also pull like a mothaf**king train with a torque monster. That's basically what im looking for lol.

Also, if you have any of the cams listed above then please post some dyno charts or videos with it. I wanna make sure I get everything right before I order the setup next month. Thanks

i have the 228R from TSP. its a good cam. good street cam. pulls hard down low and makes good power threw out the power band. TSP makes great cams. Great company to deal with also!

Not to step on Pred-Z's toes -- he knows what he's talking about from the graphs I've seen on here -- but I would go with anything Vengeance says. They seem to represent the most modern approach to LSx vehicles at this time. Their dyno and drag racing forum results are indisputable.

If I were pciking a cam, whatever Vengeance told me to get is what I would go with.

Wow Predator, that torque curve is awesome between 3.5 and 5.5rpm.
Thats right where I drive at with the 4.10s, How do you think this will do thru some stock 243 heads outta a 03 Z06?
My goal is 400tq at the rear, I have all the bolt-ons and my goal is to hit 400 thru an ls6 intake. I know its doable, just gotta find the right cam.
F14 and the Polluter were some contenders, any suggestions?

FCCS, didn't mean to highjack your thread, the TQ ???? caught my eye

haha no problem. Yea basically it seems whatever anyone has they like, so its a win win when it comes to this range of cams. I will probably stick with the 228r since thats what my mind was set on for a while now, but the vrx4 cam is another great one, id like to see a graph for cam only on the vrx4 vs the tr228. But since search is **** anymore I can't find anything on these two cams. Anyone got any dyno graphs comparing these two?

I like the TSP 233/239 .595/.603 at 112... Better top end and you'll get into the power band about the same place. (not much difference between 1600 and 1900 when you're launching at 2500-4200, depending on tires) You can still use the COMP 918 springs, too. But the 228R runs pretty well in a friends car, so don't sweat it too much.

I would agree, my numbers are in my sig.

You have a lot of good choices and I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. I was in the same boat as you at one time. Good luck.

For a Z06 I would go with the El Toro (230/230 .612/.592 111+2 LSA),
It will hit 400 on a LS6. Look for Chrs1313 post in dyno section. He is LS1 Cam only 420rwhp/397 trq. He is also in the 10s witha 3350lbs car. The smallest cam in the top 10 fastest cam only.
