Default Newbie question rebuild or buy new?

I was just trying to get some advice. My car is gettin old haha she's got 126k on the ticker and I wanted to start all my preventive maintainence before its too late since this is my d/d. Anyhow the question is would it be smarter to just flat out purchase like a stage 1 performabuilt or just take my tranny to someone and get it rebuilt/refreshed whatever it is that they do? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

i would definitely get a new bullet proof tranny especially with that many miles. just give a shout to either of the sponsors.. either performabuilt, FLT, circle D. nothing but good things from all of them. do it right the first time.

I was thinking the same thing and plus I live probably 300 miles away from any performance shop who could rebuild it so I still don't know what I am gonna do.

I would suggest going with a sponsor on here. There are a lot of tricks to get the 4L60E to live behind the LS's. A lot of shops think they can, and some probably do know what they are doing. But the sponsors on here specialize in this, no guess work.

+1 and sponsors on this site have unbeatable customer contact. Frank @ Performabuilt, Vince from FLT are the two that come to mind quickly when thinking of customer support on this site. Frank is also a very familiar face over at the GTO board. Just like Chirs here from Circle D. These are the types of guys who post in threads that have nothing to do with them making any money sometimes, they just like the hobby. If you dont have a local builder you can trust it really helps to know the guys your dealing with in other states actually give a crap.
