Default True dual setup as loud as open headers?

About a week ago I installed LPP headers on my T/A and am now looking to get a 2.5" true dual H-pipe over the axle system put on. I have a question though. Would a trual dual setup with no mufflers or cats on it be as loud as open headers? I cannot drive the car right now, it is way too loud and everything in the car vibrates. When I was done with the header job I took it out and had some fun with it, but the car being that loud will get old fast. I'd like my true dual setup to be loud, but I'd like to save money by not putting any mufflers or cats on it. I'm used to a catback exhaust with an offroad y-pipe and an open cutout, that sound was awesome, but i thought I'd like it to be a bit louder than that and I'm hoping thats what a true dual setup with no mufflers would be like, a little louder than catback open cutout, but quieter than open headers.

also, i called FLP and they want $1400 to do this job. to those that have similar exhausts, what were you charged? this seems a bit steep.

I've never heard a system like that, but I think it would sound pretty nasty kind of similar to a loud mouth. If you want loud go for duals dumped, the tsp kit is only $424. Then you could control the tone better with mufflers instead of that raw ls1 sound.

I just went from a cat-back with cutout system to a Lanes dual system with dynomax bullets. In my opinion, there is no comparison between the 2. I think the duals are definately, without question, the ONLY way to go now. Its not quite as loud as an open cutout, but it rumbles, and I mean rumbles. Ever heard a loud subwoofer? Thats kinda the effect you get from a dual system. At WOT, I think its just as loud as an open cutout. At idle, its not as loud; close to it, but the sound quality is 10x better. Especially if your car has a cam in it.

my dual exhaust is just as quiet as my stock manifolds and ypipe.

it depends on if you put cats in or not. i have cats, sweet thunder (straight through bullet muffler) dumped, and its VERY quiet

thanks guys. i want loud, but not insanely loud as open headers. just a tad louder than Y-pipe, headers, no cats and a cutout would give you. yes the car is cammed with a TR224 112. I dont like the way a dumped before the axle setup looks because i think TA's without exhaust tips looks dumb, however i think a Camaro can pull it off.

if you run your duals out the back it will be quiet for you since the noise will be out the back and doenst resonate from underneath you.

do you want cats or no cats?

OP although I dont like it myself, it sounds like you need the borla with an open plate. I would say go true duals dumped, I did I love it, but you said you want loud and want tips.

IMO, your going to pay in about $1000 for a true dual kit over the axle when you take into account time and materials.

Some dudes get lucky and find a shop that will do it for dirt cheap, but when you average out the guys that don't your prob going to spend about a grand.
True duals aren't cheap, there's alot of metal there and it takes someone skilled to get it under our cars with clearance and over the axle without rubbing or banging.
It's just the way it is.

$1400 doesn't sound steep to me, it sounds like the shop knows what it takes and is being honest.

yeah i guess youre right. thanks for your input guys.

what about duals with one pipe over each axle? i know there is some modification needed of ABS and brake lines back on the drivers side, but do you think its worth it? I think it looks a lot better.

just put my true duals on a couple of weeks ago with two single chamber mufflers, I'll be honest it really isnt that loud at idle or just driving around in the low rpms, 100% tolerable. Once i get above 3000rpms the thing turns into a different animal, its LOUD at WOT, just like i like it, you can't beat the sound.

oh yeah, i dumped mine before the axle

just get them done under the axle, you will NOT lose ground clearance, and it looks sick as hell, kinda 03-04 cobra-ish, and i have never met anyone that did not like that look

and it will be a hell of a lot cheaper

HOLY HELL...

Pretty sure I have about 200 bucks in my exhaust not counting the headers.

1400 with no mufflers? Is the pipe gold plated?

I understand that a lot goes into but god.. You could do a cam instead of that exhaust
