What year is the engine? Most likely its an LQ9 with higher compression flat top pistons since its a Denali.

Check behind the water pump and make sure there isnt a cam phaser, you would see a large buldge in the timing cover.

OK, then it wont have a phaser, but its more likely its an LQ4 not an LQ9.

IF its an '03 denali, then it comes with an LQ4 which has a peak of 325hp at 4,800rpms and a peak torque of 370 ft-lb at 4,000.. good luck with the build!

i'm doing the exact same build using an 04 2500 LQ4. it's an easy swap. although i'm using forged Wiseco pistons and Compstar rods because i plan to run nitrous. i am running the MS3 as well. if you run a large cam like that i would suggest you have all the supporting mods for it. i am using 1 7/8" LTs, FAST 95/95, 42lb/hr injectors, and lots of nitrous to make this cam work. the stock shortblocks are bulet proof. good luck with your build.

Put the cam in the 6.0 and roll with it.

um you're def putting the horse before the wagon. what are your supporting mods? and who cares about the hp? what does it run at the track? it's very difficult to estimate horsepower. it's actually useless to do so. the only way to know is put it on the rollers. yes swap the cam into the 6.0. freshen up the motor with a new oil pump, lifters, timing chain, rod bolts, pushrods, etc. drop the heads, intake, headers, and accessories and she should be ready to roll.
