Wheel hop. Trouble on the street. 3800 Stall
Hey guys. Long story short me and a buddy went to GTech pro my car on the street tonight. Mods:
-Yank SBS 3800 Stall
-Hayden Trans cooler
-3.23's
-Tokico Blues on all 4 corners
-BMR 1" drop springs in the front
-LS6 Intake, 241 Heads, TCI Linelock.
Stock i ran a 13.4 at 105mph on the gtech in 38* weather. 2.1 60'
Stall: 13.1 at 111mph and a 2.2 60" in 65* weather.
I'm getting horrible wheel hop and don't know whats going on. Im expecting better results. Stock tires 245/50/16 Dayton ZR's.
Launch at 1900 RPM's and ease into it just to get wheel hop up the ***.
Whats going on? Im expecting 12's. Is this to much to expect? I know i need more seat time with the stall but my main concern is the wheel hop. Why so bad? I had a 1/4 tank at the time if that makes a dif. What should i be launching at? Anything i can do to fix it?
Sorry guys, didn't know if this was the right section i'm just so damn irritated. .3 doesn't seem like much to me. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks - Zack

Do you have lower control arms? Good solid torque arm, I got all mine from edelbrock and cut 1.517 60's on drag tires, even on street tires i do not have a problem with wheel hop. Its prolly your stock soft bushings flexing thats causin the wheel hope, all new lower control arms comw with a stiff poly bushing for the replacement

^I have also been told LCA Relocation brackets. So if i go with just all new LCA's will that fix this? Im also ordering rear 1" drops from BMR and SFC's as well. Will all that help?

Alls I had (back in the day) was a set of BMR LCA's and the relo brackets with the BMR 1" lowering srpings.. I had no wheel hop 99% of the time. Also, take off your front sway bar, that will help transfer some weight.
I even pulled a 1.45 60' on it.

New LCA's prolly will help a little, but I dont think it will completly eliminate it. You need to get some relo brackets for your LCA's...

To tell you the truth, mine has been off ever since. I don't even notice it, but I dont road race or try to pull 2 g's around a corner..
And after re-reading your 1st post, you should really look into some MT DR's, those will help you too obviously.. I dont think your going to hook your 245 ZR's at all.

Yeah im definatly looking into radials. I just need to figure out my wheel hop issue first. Its annoying as hell. I cringe at the thought of the 10 bolt going BOOM. SO bolt in LCA brackets will be on the way and rear springs. Do you think i should grab some sfc's when i do the torque arm to? How easy is everything to install. Springs are a breeze i know.

You could have the worlds best suspension on the car and still 60" in the 2.0 range and be slow as **** without a nice set of Drag Radials.
1st and far most impotantly a nice set of Mickey Thompson Drag Radials
2nd LCAs and relocation brackets if the cars lowered
3rd Torque Arm and from then on PHB and Drag bar if thats your prefrence.
With 100% stock suspension and a set of 255 50 16 MT Drag Radials I was 60" in the 1.58 range with a VIG 3600 converter.
With just LCAs, Relocation brackets, PHB and a TQ arm and 60 more RWHP Im going 1.47 60" with MT 255 50 16s out back and stock chrome 16 245 Falkens up front all with a 3.42 stock 140,000 mile 10 bolt and stock 140000 bottom end and stock heads
Clif notes
Tires are the key and the starting point for a solid hooking foundation

Don't waste your money on LCAs, definitely get the relocation brackets first.
