Please Help me Decide. TH400 vs Glide?
I need to go auto... but which transmission is right for me.
What i know.
both transmissions are great and will handle the power.
They will both cost about the same, Th400 seems to be a little more, but not alot.
Glide weighs a little less, and also takes less power to spin
I would love to hear from shops that build transmissions, or people that actually have a glide in there car. I can find all kinds of people really happy with th400, but its harder to find people with a glide behind a ls1.
About the car.
Stock LS1
Stock Heads ls6 valve spring, tsp pushrods
ls6 Intake Manifold
PTE GT4276 1.12 AR
6.0 Truck Manifold Ceramic Black
Garret IC Core
Custom Turbo kit
Tial 44 Gate
Tial 50 Bov
Hallman Pro Manual boost Controller
The car made 467 rwhp on a mustang dyno @ 6 psi. 490 ft/lbs of torque.
I am going to try to go to 8-9psi this yr, and hopefully get the power to around 550rwhp or so.
The car will weigh around 3300 with a driver.
the car has a fab 9 with a 3.50 gear. Gear could be changed if need be, but for right now i think 3.50 will be good @ my power level.
Car is on a 26 inch tire.
With either the glide or a th400, i will want a transbrake. The car also has a 2 step with timing retard on it. Even with the 6spd i can make about 5 psi on a launch.
After the trans is done i am going to forge a motor and hope to make 7-800 rwhp on this turbo We will see where i go from there.
I have read the faq's. While it says glide in the title, it seems most of the info is meant for th400, so will i run into any suprises while trying to do the swap?
If any more information is needed please let me know.
Thanks in advance. Chris

i was also unsure if i am making enough power right now for the glide, but i will be within a yr. id like to think with a good stall and then two step and t brake the car would leave good. from alot of people on yb most have gone faster with a glid, which got me wondering
