Best DD Heads for 383
Lately I've been heavily considering buying a set of nice aftermarket heads. What brand/make would be the best for my DD? I'm looking for a little more performance, but am also on somewhat of a budget. Any feedback is appreciated. FYI I've checked out Loyd Elliot, AI, and a few others but I just cant really make up my mind.

Ported stockers (AI or LE) are a good buy for most applications.
Pushing beyond that, TFS and Dart both make excellent castings for porting (and both LE and AI have experience porting those)

I run AFR's and lov em'. Personally for a DD and good quality I'd send your off to Lloyd Elliot and have him do his LE2 as LE3 might be too much for a true DD car. Call Lloyd and see what he suggests and if you choose to go the AFR route they are great as well, but prob a little more pricy then having Lloyd port your stockers and they will flow the same if not better then the AFRs. Just my 2 cents!!!

Dart Pro 1s, 200 cc; $1,350. On the shelf, ready to ship, delivered to your door and ready to bolt on. Sell your current heads and re-coupe some of the cost.

i'd just like to know what most would reccomend either getting the stockers ported or buying a set of aftermarket castings if you only have enough money for that.
I dont have enough cash to shill out to get the aftermarket heads and then also pay for the porting.
so i would think most people would just get the stockers ported. . . but then again down the road you could always port the aftermarket castings. . .

So then how much better do ported stockers flow than aftermarket castings?

did a little googling like i said, the Dart 200CC heads flow 275CFM at .600 lift which is exactly what LE2's say they flow per there website.
I think i might actually be going with some Dart's now after seeing that they are the same price, and the fact that i can resell my old heads and springs and what not.
Thanks 1badzee

yea personally i'd agree, if they flow just as well as the ported stockers, cost exactly the same, plus i can sell my stockers and get some money back. . . thats a better value to me. plus they have the potential to flow alot more if ported as well!

What bore were the aftermarket castings flowed at? Most aftermarket companies flow at 4.125 or something like that. AFR does this and it is done to inflate the numbers.
LT1 is usually 4.030 and as large as 4.060, but no where near a 4.125. The numbers will be 7-10% higher on the larger bore.
Just FYI.
