cam install & pen magnets
I am getting ready to do a cam install this week. I got all my parts last week, but I gotta get something to hold up the lifters. Was considering the special lifter tool, but it seems the 16 pen magnets is a very popular alternative. Where would be the best place to get these? I found Walmart when I did a search, & what should I pay for these?

This is really the way I wanted to go, was unsure of the length. So I just need (2) 24 inch sections then? One for each side. I may go with aluminum as its more durable, but wood is much cheaper. Somewhere I read 5/16 dowel, but 1/4 is ok too? What does this dowel rod set on in the back part of the engine? Thanks guys.

I went to ace & they didnt have aluminum so I bought wood, 48 inch. Only 88 cents. I tore into my engine today, got the wood dowels installed, cam ready to come out. I wanted to be sure before pulling the cam, the dowels stick out about 5-6 inches. Does that sound about right? Didnt want to drop a lifter. I had to get some cam lube too. Also doing an oil pump, got an LS2 timing chain. After looking at the stock chain, I think I might be better off going with a double roller. Any modding needed to install a double roller? Got a TSP 228 cam, PRC dual springs. How reliable will the LS2 be?
