NFL Draft 09!
Not many crazy picks in the first round except the Raiders drafting Heyword-Bey. What a terrible pick.
I'm excited about the Texans picks with Cushing and Barwin. Cushing is almost the prototypical Sam backer and has experience rushing the passer. Our third down package could be pretty wicked with Mario, Antonio Smith, Barwin, Cushing, and Okoye.
There is still some talent available and hopefully we continue to get some good players!

Haven't paid attention.. I wait till the dust settles and then get back and critique like I know what I am talking about... lol
How are the Cowboys doing? I know they gave the 1st round to Detroit for Williams. How they pick up a new QB, FS, and Wide Reciever. They have the backs, D-Line, Punter, most of the O-Line, and need only 1 LB and 1 early round DB and a few late rounders.
Atleast that is what I would do.

James Casey can play just about every position on the field, had a game at Rice that he played 7 different positions. He'll be more like an H-Back like Frank Wycheck was for the Oilers/Titans. Can't just peg him as a TE, that was just the postion the NFL listed him at.
He'll be great around the goal line. They can line him up as a RB, TE, H-back, in the Slot, WR and run him in the Wild Cat as the QB also.
Bruner retired and you always need 3 TE's so thats why they got the 2nd guy who is a true TE.

But on the other hand think of what this could do to cure our Redzone problems. We have O.D. and James Casey working the middle, and 'Dre and Walter on the outside. That's a match-up nightmare for defenders.
And as somebody said Casey can do so many things including long-snapping it would be tough not to want a player like that on your team.
The TE they got in the 4th round is rated the best blocking TE in the draft. We needed one of those to help us in the redzone as well.
I am super suprised we didn't get a running back. I've heard we were really interested in Glenn Coffee from 'Bama but he went like 3 picks before us.
Connor Barwin is a DE in a 4-3, not a LB. In a 3-4 he would be an 'Elephant' player (Harrison, Ware, Porter, Suggs, Merriman) who is the outside backer who rushes the passer mainly.

Well think about this homie. Mario on the right, Barwin on the left, Antonio Smith moved inside, Okoye at the 3-Technique, and Cushing coming from different directions.
A lot of people forget that Cushing played DE at USC before he became a linebacker.
