oil pressure??
so i picked my 99 z28 up from the shop today with the new motor in it (stock motor from 2000 ta with 17k on it), and i noticed that the oil pressure isnt even half of what it used to be. at cold start up it sits around 35psi an once it warms up it sitts around 20-30 psi. at crusing speeds its at about 35ish an under wot it wont go above 40psi even while im knocking on 6000rpms. now while its under load an i go to **** gears as soon as i hit the clutch the pressure jumps up past 40 psi but goes right back down once i get back into it...
anyone have any ideas about this, any help at all would be great. thanks

well i just got it back from the dealership yesterday as it was in the shop cause the oil pressure was worse before. it would idle at 18-20psi would be at 20psi around town and would barly reach 35-40 under wot before i put it in. all they did was put a new oil pressure sending unit in the car. they said they put a mecanical gauge on it an the pressure was a lil higher than the gauge was showing but that was before they put the new sending unit in the car...

I have the same problem, I start my 01 camaro and I'm at 40 PSI and when the oil warms up the oil pressure drops to about 25 PSI and when I give it WOT it shoots back up to 40 PSI. I just got done putting in a TSP cam and SLP LS6 oil pump about one month ago and have been having this problem. I dont know what the problem is on mine yet but I will be dropping the oil pan and checking the pick up tube for the oil pump. I wish I was more help but your not the only one out here with these problems.
Another ? for everone here. Dont they sell a two bolt style pick up tube to keep from twisting the oil pick up tube?? I have searched threads and cant find it.

so what should i tell the dealership when i bring it back to them? i know they gonna say nothings wrong with it, that its within working ranges but i know that its not right. i actually called the guys over at futural motorsports an they told me that it should be 35 to 40psi at idle, 45+psi at crusing speeds, and at least 10 psi for every 1000rpm so at 6k it should be 60psi+...

My thought is its either your oil pump or its your pick up tube that is twisted and sucking air. I'm sure the oil tube is my problem and I'm ordering the two bolt set up which should fix my problem.
Have you used a mech gauge and tested the oil pressure. Our gauges are known not to be the best and accurate.
