Default Speed Inc Flexplate???

Speed Inc is selling a flexplate I think that's made by Cat Power for $119.Anybody know anything good or bad?. Appearently the TCI flexplate, which looks like a nice piece, has various issues and this seems like a good sponsor alternative. What should I buy and why?

Do a search on the speed inc. one. There are a bunch of complaints that the converter bolt holes don't line up. I personally went with the FTI one.

i got the speed inc one, I had no issues with it.

The only issue I had was finding out you can get the cat flexplate elsewhere for 50-60 bucks.

Yeah, take a look at ebay. The one on there for $60 is the same exact one.

Does it appear to be of lesser quality compared to a TCI one? This is one of those things that makes me nervous. If it is indeed SFI approved, and $65, then I guess you need to trust the piece. I don't understand why sponsors sell it for double, and the TCI one costs so much then. It doesn't seem like there is much to it- a toothed ring with a center plate welded together.

Thoughts?

I do not have one yet but I will be purchasing one. If it is SFI approved I don't see how it could be of crappy quality, if it was crappy quality how could it earn SFI rating? I have seen a lot of bad topics about the TCI one and like you said they are double the money and sometimes more. I am going to give the ebay one a try.

TCI here, a great flexplate. Fits perfect. I wouldn't use any of TCIs other stuff though, lol.

the cat racing one is made well. It follows the stock design. The tci has its own design, so you run into issues when changing other parts...such as a yank converter that uses different bolts than stock. so now you have to go find special bolts.

I put the tci and the cat on my car. I stayed with the cat. The tci is sitting on my floor.

I have the cat also. I had to adjust the holes a little but not much for my vig converter. You can find it direct from cat for 55 bucks I think.

TTT. Any more users of this flexplate? I am going to order one unless someone can give me a reason not to.

It seems this CAT one is preferred over the TCI flexplate.

What's wrong with them making some money off of a part? I buy as much as I can from speed inc and if they don't have what I am looking for I order from tsp but I have had nothing but good things tp say about them. When I ordered my flex plate I had them overnight it. I ordered it around noon on a thursday and got it before 10am friday and that's Illinois to texas

I just bought a UMI tunnel mount TA with DS loop, and a UMI T400 cross member from Speed Inc ~$600. Service was excellent and I already received the parts.

However, when I can buy something like this flexplate for less than 1/2 delivered, I'd have to be an idiot to buy it from Speed. It's not my fault Speed priced it where they did.

Whats really lovely is that this POS flexplate I just bought from Speed will not line up with my CircleD 4L80 converter.

How f'in wonderfull to find this out the day I go to install the 4L80.

Is that really Speed/cats fault or the converter for being different and not matching a stock style flexplate? does a 4l80 converter normally bolt up?
