Not sure how big of a shot you were running before but I know a guy close to same setup and went from a 300 to a 225 and didn't loose much power or time at all just something to think bout

With that big of shot I dont think the factory head bolts will allow your headgaskets to last very long. I dont know about your current fuel set up but for something like that I would new braided fuel lines, aftermarket rails with an adjustable regulator (do away with factory in tank unit) and a set of bigger injectors. Plug gap, Timing and everything else is gonna be based on the your needs (street car or track queen)

You need to go to a colder plug then work your way to warmer plug and see how it does with that size shot. Depending on your fuel, timing, and compression is going to determine what plug you need .
Your stock head bolts are not going to be good enough for a 300 shot. I think it will lift the head. Question: If you have good bolts in the bottom why skimp on the head bolts?.
I would look into a standalone for that much of a shot and fill it with c16.

You will also see guys run the same or slower on a bigger shot, thats because they can't get traction with that sized shot. Its not that he is actually running slower.

OP, why dont you give us a call and we can work you up a deal for the stand alone and direct port. There a lot of other things to go over as well. Like mentioned before, you are going to push those heads and have all kinds of problems on that shot size. There are a number of things you should do before attempting that. I also wouldnt advice jumping that quickly. maybe try increments of 50hp before going right to 300

You need to change the head bolts to head studs to start with.
Having a factory crank is not really the best option but if your willing to give it a shot Ill tell you what else you need.
For 300 shot.
You need this plug.

Total Timing will vary but you probably need to be around 14 degrees on the timing. Read the plug strap and it will tell you to take away of give more.
Fuel is important. The word cheap and 300 shot do not go together. Forget Cheap unless you concider a motor rebuild cheap. Thats what you will be doing if you keep focusing on the cheap!
You need to run a good high octain gas in both the car tank and dedicated.
We are the ones that designed the all in one dedicated and we specialize in Directports. We are not the cheapest but we are the best. Let me know if I can help.

I hope he doesn't throw on the 300 yet. I would even go colder than the plug linked by Nitro Dave. Maybe even 5 or 6 steps colder to try and be as safe as possible at first. The plug will let ya know if its to cold . Definitely do this on a dyno and not at the track, with a working wideband.
