Ok. when shifting from 2nd to 3rd my transmission will make a "pop" noise, and if i dont hold the shifter it will come out of gear. What could be causing this? Is it still ok to keep driving my car untill i can get a chance to tare it apart?

Dunno what it might be but if it were my car, I would avoid 3rd all together untill I had at least $1200 to adress the issue. Keep using it and the repair bill could get quite high.

Very common issue. You will need to tear it a part and replace the syncro, 3-4 fork and pads on the fork.
