My damn shifter handle bolts keep coming loose over time. I have loctight them. Is there anything else that I can do to keeps the bolts tight. This sucks because every time this happens and it gets loose I'm always racing someone and miss a f**king gear.

Thanks

What strength of loc-tite are you using? Do the shifter handle bolts have the lock washers on them? I've had mine for about 5 years and has never come loose with no loc-tite. Also be sure to clean the bolt and threaded hole very well before applying the loc-tite for best results, I typically use brake cleaner or another degreaser/cleaner before applying loc-tite.

You could use epoxy. You'd just have to heat the epoxy w/ a torch when you want to remove the bolts. I use blue loc-tite w/ no problems. Red is stronger, but a 5 minute epoxy will hold it 'till you heat it for removal.

I used the red loc-tite before and tighten the **** out of it. I did the same thing to day.

It does have the lock washers on the two bolts.

Thanks guys.

That does seem a little odd that it still comes loose. When the shifter handle is off are the mating surfaces of the shifter and handle smooth and free of burrs? If the two surfaces were not setting completely flush when bolted up that could cause them to loosen. Hope you get it figured out.

Lock washers with a dab of BLUE loc-tite. Ive removed and replaced my bolts half a dozen times easy and they stay tight as can be without re-applying loc-tite. Never an issue. Did you partially strip the threads trying to make them too tight at some point?

this is what I did and although I haven't put my car through the gears yet I'm confident its not going to come loose on me.

I used overlengthed bolts with red loctite and lock washers... with the bolt sticking out through the other side I then used a self-locking nut on the ends and tightened the bolt and nut against eachother. If that doesn't hold it in place I don't know what will.... good luck.
