gmmg exhaust sound
Is it just me being deaf or does the GMMG catback sound somewhat "quiet" even through stock manifolds, cats and Y pipe? I realize it won't sound like a stock car but I kinda feel disappointed. I guess this just fuels the motivation to put on my long tubes and Y pipe.

I agree. Had same experience.
Here's the good part. Add headers..sounds good. Add cam..sounds great. Add Heads..sounds beautiful.
Previously ran a Borla (w/plates). It was louder than GMMG in stock form and even with headers. Perhaps it is the nature of catbacks in general to 'wake up' as power increases, but now with H/C it has the perfect rumble and sound that everybody talks about.
I am sure someone will disagree as sound and taste is highly subjective. Just letting you know it seems to like more airflow/power to really shine.
Good luck.

I really liked my GMMG with stock manifolds & Y. Like you say, pretty quiet in regular driving but I thought it sounded awesome at WOT. Headers & ORY made it unbearably loud and raspy.
Cats, a powerpack in the I, and resonator tips made it sound nice again if still a bit loud. But, as was stated, everybody's tastes are different.

I just saw someone yesterday with a black SS. He was all stock with a GMMG and it sounded pretty loud. I have GMMG and it was somewhat loud, but when I added LT's and ORY it's CRAZY LOUD when I get 2000rpm+

It will sound better with LT'S. Keep some HF Cats on as in my opinion the GMMG rasps, drones and sounds like **** without them. My .02 cents. GMMG was the second exhaust I ran and ended up selling it.

I thought mines was pretty loud, I get compliments from people asking if I have headers. But at higher speeds it does quiet up a bit. 1-3rd gear is just awesome sound though. Cant wait for headers.

I guess each to his own 'rasp' sound quality. Agree it is highly subjective.
To the OP, another option is to add an electric cutout. If you prefer a catback/w cats or you want to hear more of a raw sound of a cutout, you can have both.
Many states are cracking down on exhaust decibels and a number of states at least do a visual on catalytic converters. As I stated earlier I also felt the GMMG seemed 'tamer' at first.
Just giving you another alternative. An electric cutout might not be a bad idea, both for HP and if you like loud (but all at your choosing).
