Is there a way to use the stock wiring with a different relay and only run the high speed without having negative effects on the wiring? I'm not worried about the fan, I'll just buy a new one of those if it burns up.

I know it requires an 80 amp relay or so, so is there an 80 amp relay that will fit in place of the stock relay?

Or is there a better way to go about this? I seen a 70 amp relay kit for 59 bucks plus shipping, just not really wanting to spend that much on the fan setup that I don't know if it will keep the car cool or not.

Also, does anyone know the cfm that the taurus fans are? I see people claiming 4500 cfm, but that seems like too much.

All I'm concerned with is having the high speed. I found something that said to use a Bosch 150 amp relay p/n 0 332 002 156, but I can't find that one. I'm assuming I'd still be able to control the fan by splicing into the pcm pinouts, just not sure how to go about it. I know someone has done this

I just grabbed the relays from the Ford when I grabbed the fan.

Get them free that way and you know they are the right size.

Or wire up 2 40 amp relays in parallel. More then one way to skin a cat.

Is there any way to use the stock f body wiring without having a concern for a melt down with just wiring up the high speed? Does anyone know the amp rating for the relays?

I used a $25 snow plow soleniod from Grainger. It was rated for 100 amp continuous duty. Use no less than 10 gauge wire for the high side.

Hmm.

I have a Taurus 2 speed, wired for high only. It runs off the stock PCM with a 40 AMP relay and a 40 AMP fuse in my stock (RX7) under hood fuse block.

I -used to- cook relays, wiring and fuses with a 60 AMP fuse, 10 gauge wire and dual 30 AMP relays; then I replaced the old ***, worn out stock motor on the fan with a fresh one... whaddya know, no more issues.

From what I've seen, it's closer to 3000 CFM on high. Mine keeps a 17x19x1.5" single pass radiator cool enough to handle a turbo LS1 in a tight engine bay in traffic, in 90* temps. Engine stays under 200*. I do have a LOT of shrouding though.

This is what I was looking for. Is that f body wiring and did you change the fuse out to a 40 amp fuse or is it already a 40 amp fuse?
