Default Motor mounts - energy suspension (shims?), or prothane?

I've had a few people recommend the ES mounts, but from what i'm reading they're not a direct drop-in replacement - what kind of modification do these take to actually work?

How good are the prothane mounts (that I hear are a direct drop in?)

I havent had any experience with the Energy Suspension mounts, but I have done three sets of Prothane MM's. With them, its simply a matter of getting the mm's out of the car, drilling out the rivets that hold the clamshell together, prying the clamshell apart, then removing all of the factory rubber bushing. Once thats done, you "drop in" the new poly bushing and bolt the clamshell back together with the supplied bolts and nuts, then reinstall them on the car. I'm not sure this is much help. I've really condensed the process, but I hope you get the picture. Good luck.

the drilling out part wasnt fun, i did it this weekend and used my bench grinder to grind the caps off then drilled them out, as far as energy suspension, i bought them cause you can get them at any autozone or advanced, all i did was grind about 1/8 inch off each side because there slightly too wide. go buy a few 5/16 by 1/2 inch bolts and nuts to hold them together, i loctited them for good measure.

i was worried about grinding them but, the prothane ones come skinnier to fit so there must be plenty of meat even after i cut on mine, the prices r similar but i didnt have to pay shipping

oh and the number youd need is like, 3.1116. hope that helps!

I have energy suspension mounts in mine, fit right in the stock clamshells.
