It should say "before spending $2000 + on a 9" or 12bolt go ahead and waste your money on the 10 bolt first" yeah some have luck with it for awhile but thats all it is ..LUCK! Mine went on street tires

I know someone who launches hard on his making around 400rwhp and no issues, just get that POS torsen outta there, if you plan to build a car to get into the mid to low 11's I say get a 12 bolt, or if you are hell bent get a 9 in. I plan to keep my car very comfy at a mid to high 11 second car so I am going with an auburn lsd and 3:73 gears moser axles and getting the axle tubes welded to the body and a TA cover, should hopefully get me there, if not well then crap dicks I will be another person with a sad story to tell.

And I have been through one 10 bolt already.

It costs in the nature of 700 for a complete rebuild with gears for a 10 bolt. I had a friend do this to his, even though i tried to convince him otherwise.......... and he broke it first time out @ the track on the new rear. If you plan on driving these cars like they were built to be driven, you will break something. Just fork over the money for a new rear, and never mess with it again. Just my .02. I have been wrong before.

I love it when people say the dont launch the car hard.

My rear imploded after 150,000+ miles and probably 200+ track passes. It died mid 3rd gear- Complete destruction of the carrier and all.

Mine lasted about 125 launches with an M6 trans before breaking the posi-unit. Only lasted 7 launches with rebuilt and 4.30 gears. Both with less than 400 rwhp...

Mine was fine to 1.4 60's and 650RWHP. They are decent with the factory gears, change those, and boom.

Mine went 55k and 20 something track passes. On MT 315drs it did fine, but when I put on a set of hoosier 16" cheater slicks I snapped and axle on the very first launch. My car mabey has 350 rwhp.

no problems thus far here for my ten bolt, though my car doesn have the most power ever only 330 rwtq for now ive beat the crap out of it and the only thing ive ever had to do to it was replace the pinion seal like every other ten bolt in history (had six in the shop in one week for this exact reason)
i dont launch the car ever cuz it just spins on the street tires but i hit second and third really hard all the time

I haven't any issues w/ my 10 bolt yet. It was mated with a stalled auto at first now w/ M6.

I've sometime wondered about that with my race-10 One would hope it would be ok with 120hp but i still doubt it...lol

autos typically handle it better since the fluids take the brunt of the shock vice the engagement of the clutches for us M6 guys. . .

As with anything else, you are only going to hear the horror stories associated with something....

There isn't really any "shock" with an auto at all since the drive train is always loaded. It would be similar to an M6 slipping the clutch on a hill at a red light instead of holding the car with the brake.
