Talking C5 13" Brake Upgrade on my 2000 SS - PICS!!

This weekend I finished the install of my 13" C5 Corvette brakes on my SS. Install went very well, and actually was easier than I expected. Worst part was SAWING the car!

By far, probably the best bang for your buck when it comes to a brake upgrade. You could actually save a little money on a LS-1 and reuse the OEM caliper since it is the exact same size, just use new 13" rotors for a vette, the adapters, vette brake line, vette brake bracket and pads.

I splurged and bought the Baer Eradispeed 2 peice rotors for a little more appearance "Bling".

Pics of the process are here: http://www.netsnapshot.com/b?ACCOUNT=4394&KEY=6

Those look killer! Really fills the space around the inside of the wheels.

It was just a front conversion. The rears on a Camaro and Vette are very similar.

For the back I used the stock caliper and bought he Eradispeed rotor.

I got in a GP on the brackets, and bought all the parts separate. The person making the brackets (I think) has stopped making them.

I have converted my LT1 car to C5 brakes with a set of brackets, probably made by the same person. All I can say is it was a HUGE improvement over stock. Wish I had done it sooner.

Nice pics! I have the same adapters you do I think (made by Bob?). I haven't bolted mine up yet, I'm in the process of polishing the calipers so I'll probably wait to put them on until spring. Mind if I contact you when I get around to doing the install? I'd really like to get the PowerStop rotors (I have a set of regular ugly C5 ones), but they are definately pricey. How much were your rotors?

Sure, you can e-amil me if you have any questions. Yup the brackets are from Bob Bishop. My rotors, well, they were DAMNED expensive - $535 just for the fronts. But nothing I really do ot the car is cheap.

Lightbulb brake upgrade

[FONT=Comic Sans MS]
In case anyone might be interested I stumbled upon a company that use to be in business called Nashville Speed. They make C5 brake upgrade kits for the 93-97 F-bodies. Well since the arrival of the Z06 they changed the kits to use the OEM parts that come with the Z06 Vette's. If anyone is interested you can check out the site here at http://www.nashvillespeed.com/. They have a place you can contact for pricing but I believe I can make this package even better. There is a place that I have bought many of my OEM parts from including my Grand Sport rims and their prices are dam near as close to whole sale as you can get. You can give them a ring aling at lambert buick. The guys there are hell of nice and if you say you got it from the internet the prices are even lower and if you do not live in OHIO the prices even get better .

Ne ways the Baer kit you installed looks great with the rims. May I ask how much those set you back. Do have any issues with rubbing. Has your car been lowered and do you know if you can stuff a larger 305 or 315/ 30 tire into the rears.

Well the brackets I bought are from Nashville Speed, but unfortuantely they have gone out of business. Bob Bishop the creator of the bracket/adapter, has introduced a new version that is now available.

Thanks for the compliments, as for the wheels, and being lowered. Yes my SS has been lowered ~1" all the way around. The wheels are 18" x 9.5" front and 18" x 10.5" rear, both with a 38 mm offset. Rubbing, front at full lock the tire can make very minor contact with the black plastic fender liner up front - no noise, just can see a little rub mark on the plastic. In back, the passenger rear tire can contact the wheel well lip over big bumps, if I re-align the rear end with the panhard probably be able to get rid of it. Bigger tires, probably could fit - I'd never do it, with the offsets and small as they are the wheel and tire as it is, is flush with the wheel well, so a larger tire would stick out. Cost on the wheels . . lets just say I gave up an arm, a leg and my left nut. Automotive jewelry.

Ok guys,

Lets see what kind of interest there really is, and if you all just want the brackets or the Drilled and slotted C5 rotors that I have
which are made by the same company that makes the Baer brakes.

Let me know if ther is any interest. I have plenty of parts in stock to fill any orders.

I might add as well, no cutting is necessary. simply bolt on for the LG part.
