Default new timing chain needed??

I will be putting a cam in my mildly modded car in a few weeks (X1 or F1). Is it necessary and/or recomended to get a new timing chain setup at the same time? My car only has 18K miles on it as it sits.

Thanks

well i think it depend. timing chains aren't going to take a big gash out of your wallit. you can get them from www.sdpc2000.com for about $64.00 to $100 i woulld look at it this way do you want to take it apart again? if not i would change it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Thanks for the advice guys. I will probably go ahead and get a new one since it is pretty cheap insurance.

I would replace it, Five liter eater had one break on his 2001 Z28 and bent all his valves.
Higher spring pressure and rpm can kill stock chain. I use and reccomend Rollmaster double roller hardened with torrington bearing. Great price too!
