Just curious as to how much it was to get them installed on top of the cost for the sleeves. Also any thoughts on how the 4.125 in sleeves will hold up against big N2O shots 200-300 range. All thoughts and help appreciated.

Darton makes a couple different types of sleeves for the LS1. I believe ARE uses the standard iron drop in sleeve (what I have in my motor). I think Mike is referring to the Darton sleeves that are integrated into the deck surface of the block.

I don't personally know of anyone with these in a motor yet...

Hey Guy`s, I think your talking about the Darton sleeve that`s intergrated with the deck surface... we use a ductile sleeve maunfactured by Darton to "our spec" we have tested our sleeve to over 1000hp and have had no issues.. The block in our Silver Z28 has two seasons on it and it`s ready for the third!

Thanks for the replies fella, Looks like ARE will be getting some money from me once I get back stateside. I dont plan on being in the 1000 horsepower range although six hundred would be nice

I haven't seen one guy on the any forum who is using the Darton Modular Deck sleeve system. Lingenfelter is the only one that I know.

If you ask me, I think there are issue that have not been worked out. Don't you think someone would have used them by now???

We have a 422 solid roller motor using this block that should be assembled within the next month. It is at the machine shop getting the finish hone and having the rotating assembly balanced.

How much do the sleeves add to the weight of the block? They look like theyd add more than the standard type sleeves.

The added weight is irrelevant vs. the strength that you gain for an aluminum block.

9D9LS- weight is not irrelevant if it weighs as much as the iron block which is $2000 cheaper.

z-ya- Lingenfelter wants $2750 for the resleeved block and I have heard of others offering it for a little less. If you figure the sleeves cost 1300 and a new block is 550, thats almost 2000 in parts alone. Then you need to have them installed.

Can anybody give an estimate of the weight difference between a Darton Sleeved block and an 6.0L Block?

MMS is using the Darton Sleeves on their 427 that they're installing for me in March. I'll be sure to let everyone know how it goes. I'm aiming for 700+ RWHP with their D1SC Supercharger and their custom programming (and a ton of other stuff).

The block Jason is referring to above is actually my 427 block. It should be back from the machine shop within the next week. I also have my 6.0L iron block here on the floor. I can assure you, the weight difference is minimal between a stock LS1 block and a Darton MID sleeved block. I need help to carry the iron block but can carry the Darton or Stock block by myself. I will get a weight on both when it comes back from the machine shop.

We have 1 ready now, 1 disasembled, (mine) and 3 more getting finished up right now, We had a very bad experience with the 4.100 Cometic gaskets, 4 sets and 4 leaked this was before the FelPro 1041's were available and thats what fixed the current LAsleeved 4.100 blocks, Tom M just recently changed his head gaskest over to the Fel pro's and is installing a REAL set of long tube headers and back on the dyno soon. Our Machinist removed the all ready installed LAsleeve liners from 3 blocks and prepped them for the Darton system and were installing it on the 24'th of thes month, I will have the update soon along with full install pics on our web page.

Joe.
