Default STS??? APS??? opinions and advice wanted

Alright so heres the deal, ive pretty much decided on going forced induction. problem is that the only turbo kits i know of that are emissions legal are the STS ones (i live in California). So STS guys give me your opinion of your kits and what kind of horsepower are you making? im wanting to keep a stock bottom end and do a heads and cam turbo setup are there anyof you out there making good power with that and info would be nice.

Also are there any other kits that are emissions legal? im really interested in the APS systems because you keep the A/C and they look like a very clean setup. are there any other twin setupse like that out there that are emisisons legal?

i know its alot of questions but everyones opinions would be nice and pictures and prices would be even better to give me a good idea of what my decission will be so i can start saving for it.

I had a custom STS kit on my 98 T/a. They are the cheapest kit to get now since they aren't making to many sells these days. I noticed that you are 6 spd. STS kits on manuals tend to not do well at all, they take forever to spool. Not to mention that oil pump that's with them. I defended my kit the whole tim I had it, but I had to face the truth that it was not a great design and not as effective as a front mount. I have heard nothing but good things from APS kit however. Spend the extra cash and get the APS I promise you won't be disappointed.

The STS kit will be much easier to install and now has a front mount intercooler option among many other improvements over the older design.

It still is far laggier, more complex, and makes less power.

with a built 385LT1 i'm putting down just over 500rear wheel 570tq a buddy of mine is pushing over 650rear wheel in his '02 SS. both of us are intercooled and have our air conditioning his SS and he has forged internals... and a few others in the forced induction thread with nice track times

Common mis-conseptions. My buddies stock 02 SS is at full boost by 3200 rpm and is fast as ****!

I know of more than 10 cars that make over 1000 rwhp with remote mount turbos so saying that they make less power isn't true either.

The exact same turbo on a front mount will make more power, have less backpressure, and have less potential for leaks in the shorter piping. Unfortunately, that would not pass visual in Cali, so STS may be his only legit option. BTW, I have an STS on my GTO, and I have installed front mount kits on other vehicles, so I am not just an STS hater.
