My reverse clutches went out and i cant see paying $1000 just to repair the reverse. I want to know what i can get a 4l60e out of to put in my car.

My car is a 98 trans am and the 5.7 threw a rod and i put a 5.3 in it. it still has the 5.7 harness and ecu. I was told a 5.3 trucks 6l60e is completely different and will NOT work in my car. So my main question is, Will any LS base 4l60e work in my car with the factory harness?

Yes as long as its 2wd and with truck units you will have to swap the linkage shaft as it will be too long.

no its pretty easy if you go to do it just give me a call and i will tell you what to do

The shift linkage is longer, but you can get it to work. You just have to bend the cable bracket out some. I have done it before for customers on a budget. I wouldn't do it on my personal vehicle tho. Also the rear tailhousing is different, just swap it with your current one.
