Default shift firmness

when i bought my car i was told it had a level 2 built trans with a yank 3000 stall in it with only 9k on it...

when i finally got the engine together and started drivin it i noticed it doesnt shift very firm at all i was hopin it would atleast chirp 2nd gear. the worst is when it goes into 4th its real slugish and weak.

i want to know if there is something i can do to firm these up without pulling the transmission. i dont know much about transmissions.. so any help would be great.

If its a built trans is should shift firm but now that does not mean it will chirp tires at light and medium throttle with a 3000 stall. But it should be quiet firm at WOT I would think . Stall converters act like big pillow cushions when it comes to the way the shifts feel
