Default Ran the V tonight (bone stock)

I met up with a few guys from ls1tech. There were 3 V's total tonight. Not much going on at the track so we pretty much ran at will. I'm sure they will post their times as well.

Given the crappy weather conditions tonight (upper 80's and just shy of 90% humidity) I think it did well. We were all drenched in sweat just from standing around..it was quite miserable. I made 4 passes spaced anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour apart each time.

Run 1 was trac control on. I figured I could just launch it hard and trac control would be smart...well it still spun and wheel hopped..blah. 2.3 60' 13.8@105

rest of the runs were trac control off in competition mode:

Run 2: 2.2 60' (spun, no wheelhop though) 13.7@105

Run 3: 2.1 60' (no spin, launch @ 4k rpm feathering the clutch) 13.66@105

Run 4: 2.2 60' (same launch as last time but feathered too much) 13.70@102

As the humidity got worse, the mph got worse..lol. Run 3 and 4 both could have been kickass if I had put a little more power to the ground. Overall I'm happy espically since there were 12.5 sec cars running low 13's because of the weather. I can't wait to run it when the weather gets better in October or November.

Launching the car safely was a lot easier than I thought. I just keep the rpms up and work the clutch. I'm pretty sure with a few more passes I could have broken into the 2.0 range with no wheelhop or spin.

EDIT: also all the runs were granny shifting 1-2 and power shifting the rest...after the 1-2 shift, the foot never left the floor

Anyone that cuts a 2.1 with this car knows how to drive.

Yea it did seem like u were having a bit of trouble. Didnt get a chance to talk to u like I did the others, but friends and I thought u could've used a bag of ice between runs to cool that maggie down. Nobody there was running what they were supposed to. The track could've been prepped better and it was just way to muggy.

Yeah NPR is usually prepped really well, but I'm sure with the relatively small overall turnout, they didn't do it like they normally would have.

A few friends were calling it "slippery madness" because they were spinning 2nd and 3rd when usually they only spin 1st and only a portion of 2nd. It's usually only good to go on test N tune.

Yea him and a couple mustangs along with that drag blazer on the balloon tires almost kissed the wall... evidence that the track prepping sucked.

Upper 80s and 90% humidity do not happen in Louisiana or hardly anywhere else on earth. A mid 70's dewpoint (common for your area this time of year) would have given you a humidity in the low 60% range.

Sorry, just a meteorologist busting your ***** here.

Also jealous of your V.

...not according to what weather.com was saying on my phone 60% humidity would have been nice though. It was 60% right before the sun went down on the way in and I was hoping it would stay that way, but as soon as the sun went down it got really muggy. For this event we don't even start racing until 9pm. Next time I'll take a snapshot of the freggin weather page too.

EDIT: I just checked the weather right now at 8am...its 78 degrees and 88% humidity and sunny. It sucks here. That kind of humidity happens all the time. I've been racing for years down here and always checking the weather before every run

According to the weather tables from dragtimes.com the weather for the night started about 85 (9:00pm) and then dropped to 82 with the humidity in the high 60s% to low 70s%. The DA was ~1900 - 1700 ft for the night since the baro was pretty good. The conditons were not great for sure but they could have been worse too.

Nice runs by the way.

Watch the humidity drop as the temp goes up. By the time you reach the upper 80s the humidity oughta be down in the 60% range. If you had upper 80s and 90% humidity believe me you would barely be able to breathe because that would be like an 87 dewpoint.

right now in tampa its 90* 75% humidity and freaking miserable. Tonight is forcasted to be in the mid to high 80's with 88% humidity per weather.com
