Building n20 409" For the 8's, O-ring block or heads, which gaskets, good combo?
I was hoping someone could see any flaws in my setup or combination.
Car is a C4 corvette with an ls1 conversion. Full interior/weight etc,
3000lb race weight (with me), 28x13.5 ET Streets, has went 1.42 60 ft's in past...should be good for 1.3's on the Independant Dana 44 with the upgrades i have, TH350, 3500rpm TCI SSF converter. Car went 10.5 @ 130 on 440 rwhp.
I really want minimum 700 rwhp on this setup 800 would be nicer and make it go mid 8's @ 156-158 mph and still get 15 mpg..hehe...
I want to spray a 300-350 rwhp shot on it. Do i need to o-ring the block or the heads? I need to know before i take the block from the machine shop. Also when you do that, is there any felpro gaskets with o-rings, whats the o-ring options on a ls1? Any other tips to make the power. I see Big Mike going 700 rwhp on 300 rwhp (400 on motor, 700 n20). So a iron block should be able to handle more with a bigger motor i hope.... any secrets or tips?

Sounds like a durable motor. I would think you would not need any special treatment if you get the timing issue right. Seems the head lifting issues associated with these motors is associated with too much timing. Although in many cases, there is no KR detected, the heads will lift and the colling system will pressurize due to excessive cylinder pressures.
Obviously, use the thickest ARP studs you can get. With a 300 shot, I'd shoot for about 18 degrees of timing initially and see what happens. At some point you may lift a head if you toy with the timing. But at least you will know the correct threshold.
There are many here running those levels without lifting heads, so maybe they will chime in.

i would defanently o ring it but i am not sure about the options. also if you what mid 8's you will need around 1200 hp or so. the road from 9's to 8's is a long way. 800hp is only good for mid low 9's.

Yea i figured im not aiming for a ET, im aiming for a parachute...Its kinda silly i know, but ive never in my life seen a street car with a parachute on the back and i think it would be pretty amusing to drive my car to work everyday with a chute hanging on the back....
