Im thinking of getting an LS6 cam. With this cam i will bump up my shift points to 6300. With my SSF3500 that will get me to 5300rpm's after my shifts. My ? is wont this result in the converter "catching up' faster resulting in less slippage? Or am i thinking too much. Im thinking i can pick up 3 tenths by doing this $200 project. What do you think? Your SE won't go to 5300 by bringing the shift point up to 6300 (btw, you should have been running 6300 shift points with the stock cam. That's too low for an LS6 cam.) I don't know where you were shifting before but your SE will be about 4900-5000 with a 6300 shift point.
Stock cam now? Sure, you might pick up 3 tenths with an LS6 cam. That cam will want to be shifted at more like 6600 for best results...if you have confidence in the valvetrain you're running.

Thanks i didnt understand how SE changed with shift points. 6600 wow i need better push rods then. I will still run the stock manifolds so i didnt think they would flow very well above 6300rpm's, But i could always try.Thanks for your input. Tony

The only way that I've found to find the best shift points for a combo is to do alot of trial and error at the track using MPH as your guide. No amount of dyno time, calculations, or guesswork will give you the results of good 'ole trial and error at the track, IMO.

Yup, you got it...if you want maximum ETs that is. But of course, do so at your own risk.
I ran 11.56 at 115.6 MPH with an internally stock LS1 back in '00 when everyone but me and Raughammer was running 12s. My shift points were like ~6500. Not that I recommend doing that for anyone who cares about their engine (although I never did any harm, btw.)

I believe you. I know someone with a stock internal 99 C5 that is running 11's at 114-115, and has the rev limiter upped to 6600 (max HPP3 allows) and hasn't had a problem yet (knock wood). I don't know where he has his shift points but I know it's higher than stock.
I wouldn't trust the stock valvesprings that high, but that's just me. I don't particularly "care" about my engine but for now it's the only one I got. I don't let that stop me from having fun but I don't push my luck either
