Pictures from my boom
Well, just as I suspected I blew my rear planet. It turns out I do have 4l65e front and rear planets. I also found my 3rd gear clutch pack is toast. Funny how it wasn't slipping, if it was I didn't notice.
My NEW builder blaims the twice blown rear 4l65e rear planets on the fact that my 1-2 shifts VERY hard, hard enough to chirp nitto drags on a 1/2 throttle launch.
My trans has a transgo that I am removing.
We took apart the 1-2 accumulator and found the following in order, a yellow spring, the piston, a blue spring, and in the bottom of the accumulator there were 3 perfectly size washers? IS this some makeshift-shift kit or is this actually the crap the transgo kits provide?
If anyone can provide me with a detailed list of what the trango kit provides I would GREATLY appreciate it.
Here are the pictures

Fortunately the fluid looked in really good condition, just normal clutch wear, you can see it very well on the photo. I think I am going to upgrade to a SS4000E and my PY3600E is for sale now. Look for my other thread with info on that.

Yes, that is the crap Transgo provides. The objective is to take up space in the accumulator so fluid goes to your 2nd band apply piston rather than into the accumulator - what would YOU use to block off the space
Try it with one less washer at a time until you get the shift you want...somebody has probably made some of the valve body fluid transfer holes extra-large....
3 washers is max kill for the 1-2 shift, I use this with no problems nor an unneccesarily harsh 1-2. Everything has to be calibrated to play nice TOGETHER....

Ouch!
FYI The picture you have labeled as "reaction shell" is the reverse input drum. The reaction shell is the same thing as the sun shell, just two different names
BTW I can't see all of the 3/4 clutch plates to count them, what kind were they?

it is the 9 clutch red alto pack -- I have ordered a 6 pack raybestos blue to replace these, they are thicker clutches and will dissipate heat better.
