Body In White are ready to start shipping
GM Performance Parts announced the availability of a "Body in White" program at the Performance Racing Industry Show in Orlando.
That program would give hard core racers the ability to purchase bare 2010 Camaro bodies for all out race cars.
Well I am happy to announce that the bodies are starting to hit the GM Performance Parts Warehouse. Back orders will start to ship this week!
Those who have ordered bodies should be contacted by their GM Performance Parts dealer.
If you haven't ordered yours for next season now is the time to contact your dealer.
I know the number of BIW Camaros that have been ordered. I am excited to these things in the hands of some of the most talented chassis builders.
You will also notice in the picture some of the GM Performance Parts crate engines at the warehouse. Mountains of crate engines!!!!!

All depends on what your doing with it. Suspension, powerplant, drivetrain, wheels/tires, k-member, wiring harnness, glass or lexan, bumper covers, cage, Dash, seats, steering, door mech all add up. I have about 40k into my 4th gen BIW with me doing all of the work with the exception of the cage.
With a new shell everything has to be fab'd and since you can't go bone yard hunting like you can with a 4th gen you are stuck getting some parts from the dealer. The nicest thing is having a fresh piece of canvas with no melt sheet or other insulation material that is applied to a new car. Would I buy another body in White in a 5th gen? In a hot second!

I know right? They have a million of those things just sitting there when they could be in our hands being promoted out on the street. Thats what GM needs, some real life "hobbiest" people out there promoting free products and parts.
Think about it; Who would you "believe" more when looking at an engine choice?...The local racer at the track enjoying his favorite hobby in the world?...or a known sponsored guy who gets paid to tell you that his engine rocks and there is nothing better?
Ill take the local racer anyday, period.
My ex gf's father did development work for "The Big Three" (back when thats what it was) and the first time I took him out in the camaro, he said to me, "you should have been here last year when I had three LS6 corvette engines just sitting in the basement...." Needless to say, I was sadden that my baby could of had a free brand new Ls6.
Sorry for the rant, those shells are neat and I cannot wait to see some amazing new camaros to come out of them. Whats the weight on one of those bad boys?

Hell, while we're at it, what about these:
GMPP part number 19171272. I NEED a set of these to finish off my LSX build. I've been told they're unavailable but nobody can tell me why. Obviously they exist somewhere in some quantity, however limited they may be. I'd like to know how i could get ahold of a set if Robin or Dr. GMPP could tell me.
Thanks
