327 ci budget build
i was able to get a 327 that had previously been bored over to a 331 and now is in need of a rebuild... I was wondering if i could get a budget build done and still be around the 350 hp with about 400 tq and what parts i should consider i have looked at kieth black pistons and im wanting a roller cam so any input would be greatly appreciated
im thinking kieth black pistons 11:1 would be a good start with a set of stock forged rods i already have a holley street dominator intake and everything else is stock

I would keep it as a 327, as per your sig it's going into your RX7??
A 327 will rev much better than a 355.
I would built a strong bottom end, topped off with a real nice set of flowing heads. Monster cam as well.

well the car im throwin it in has 4.08 gearing and i have the stock heads... how good could those heads flow with some cleaning up and getting better chamber and intake runners? the motor is going in a car that weighs 2900 pounds and im wanting to get it in the low to mid 12s so im thinkin that 400 hp and 400 torque should get me in that range
would 180cc intake runners be good for this setup i believe 195 would be too much or am i mistaken?

Holley Street Dominator intake manifold
Summit® Piston Rings
Thats the beginning to my parts list does that look like a good start?

only problem with that is, a 327 likes to rev, past 6500, Vortec heads dont like to go above 6000 too much, much less 7000. So you are kind of holding back power. It should go to 6500 if you get the right cam, but it wont like it as much as if it had bigger heads, say a 185 cc int runner.

what is your goals with this motor? drag, street, etc.?
the 906 will work well for street car. with that manifold.
it will be no race motor but it should run pretty good. u will not be able to build a hi rev'n motor with those heads, esp. if using stock pressed in studs.
u will need to have machined for use with screw in rocker studs, etc. all that adds up.might as well go with aftermarket heads, will be in same price range after machine work and trying to get everyhting to work correct with vortecs
if its just a street motor, keep it under 6000 rpm. and go with a flat tappet cam.
dont spend u money for roller retrofit cam swap.
better off going with a vortec 350 roller block and heads. and build that
