i have a 700r4 with the 5.3 in my 78 2wd Chevrolet C10 my question is the speedo on the 1991 truck trans that i brought for it, seams to have a plug where the mechanical speedo hooks up i didnt notice this when i brought it!! i dont mind not having a speedo drive for a while but im sure i could hook up some sort of aftermarket elec speedo in the dash cluster later ,my question is do i need to run the VSS ??and if so how do i run it on my truck ?? what do i need!! thanks guys !!

Is your 5.3 carbed or fuel injected? If it's EFI, there should be two speed sensor wires in a plug that would plug into that speed sensor in your 700r4. Not sure the plug will be the same though, but that would be easy to change.
