In the market for new mufflers
I am looking for new exhaust. I have always loved my Flowmasters. I've had them on this car for almost 2 years and always sounds good on highway and in the city. I was on a 2 hour trip today and the hum inside the car almost drove me nuts. It has gotten a lot louder on the highway for some reason. So I'm looking for new mufflers. These are the choices I came up with. What do you think. SLP powerflo, Magnaflow oval mufflers, Magnaflow round mufflers, borla proxs mufflers

I think you should go w/ some Magnaflows; they have a very deep rumble to them and are louder than the stock mufflers, but by no means are they overbearing. Also, there is no drone in the vehicle at cruising speeds.

How loud are those Alabama, lets say compare to Flowmasters? Also borla does have sweet sound, I put some on my g/f's car and it sounds pretty damn good, hate to say it but a better quality sound than mine.

Per your screen name are you talking about adding these to a V6 Monte?
I went a different route with Summit brand Race Mufflers and I'm very happy. They sounds great, but they could be a little louder.

They are audible but nothing like flowmasters. I don't think they're quite as loud as the Magnaflows but they are usually #3 or #4 in aftermarket horsepower tests (if my memory serves me correctly). Miles abouve Magnaflows and certainly higher than the Flowies. This being said, I love my cutout more than life itself

I've been wanting a cutout for sometime but just havn't done it. Either way I'm changing mufflers, but quieter mufflers with a cutout don't sounds bad. What kind of cutout to you guys have and where is it located? Also what size would I need? Where did you guys mount your switch?

I don't know if you are aware, or even a member already, but you might be able to find much better answers regarding your platform on www.montecarloforum.com. There are more V6 Monte's over there that share your same engine and have done exhaust work.

I was a member when I first got my car. When I was over there to much drama and it just got on my nerves. The questions or things I talk about over here are just basic questions that really don't have nothing to do with what engine I have.

What engine you have will determine the sound your exhaust will produce based on your muffler choice. It was just a suggestion. I'm over there a lot and I think it's a great community.

I hear ya. I'd probably get out of there too if it was like that, but I've never had any issues with any of the members. Some of the threads occasionally get tiresome, such as intake threads, but it's a good place. Take care.
