Default need help with a thermostat on 98 trans am

my 98 trans am is over heating and a couple dealer ships have told me $235/$265 to swap them out.

I did a search and could not find any thing about how to swap them out i was wonder if any knows of a write up on how to change it out. or maybe a place that will do it for cheap in San Antonio?

also should i go with a 180 or 160 degree thermostat? for daily driving and not much racing

thanks, Adam

do it yourself, the 160 degree thermostat is like 60$. and all u need is tools to remove the hoses and a 10mm socket to remove the 2 bolts holdin the thersmostat housing to block.
the new housing comes with the t-stat in place.

Which stealership quoted you that????

Thermostat on an LS1 is pretty easy ... just have to work at it to bleed the air from the system afterward.

I bought one recently, I don't recall it being anywhere near $60, I could be wrong but I think it was under $20...

But yeah, its super easy, its under your TB and looks like a uni-ball *****.
