Rhoades lifters, anyone running them?
I have searched but most of the info is from 05-07. Just wanted some updates on how they hold up. I ran a set in my 406 SBC and really liked them. Just curious how they have treated the LSX crowd......

To be honest, I never heard of them here and I was looking around for a good set of lifters and decided to go with the LS7 lifters. I am sure that someone here has to have at least heard of them in a LS engine. good luck

They are classified as fast bleed lifters, meaning they will bleed off some of the ill effects of a big cam down low and at a higher RPM don't have time to bleed so they give the full affect of the cam. They claim that 10-15 degrees of duration can be shaved off the low end (under 3500 RPM) and between .010 and .025 lift. Here's some info:

I ran a set for a very short period of time. I wasn't crazy about them due to the added noise. The car also felt like it was a little down on power. They do work as advertised though and will slightly tame a larger cam but they just weren't for me and I took them out.

I built the 406 with a 230/230 cam, realized it was WAY too small and upgraded to a 234/244 with the Rhoades. It was a big difference, but have no way to tell how much was due to lifters.
I didn't have much trouble with the ticking, could be due to a Pete Jackson gear drive.......

So you went to a bigger cam and think the lifters gave you more power? Lifters don't make power. All they do is transfer energy. If you had an issue with your previous lifters and they weren't opening the valves then thats one thing, but you don't gain power by swapping a good lifter for a good lifter. Setting up the valve train properly will make more power.

Apparently I didn't explain myself well enough. The low end with the much larger cam was better; more response, vacuum, and overall drive ability. Which yes, for going to a larger cam I was impressed with. The upper and mid was also better, but that I would attribute to the larger cam, not the lifters.

i ran them way back when on a gen 1-Crane also made something sim.
the trick was to have the propper preload, you couldnt use the old deal of cranking it down untill the chatter stopped, lol-thats where they got some bad press-do they make them for an LS engine? with non adj rockers, you would have to watch the preload pretty close
