Engine knocking after rebuild.

Engine knocking after rebuild.
Ok, here is the story. I recently rebuilt my engine with all stock parts except I upgraded my 241s to 243s. The engine is running great. The oil is at 50PSI at idle and idle is good. Turns on everytime on the first try. I know LS1 have small knock on the upper part of the motor but mine is pretty loud. My brothers car is not as loud. Can this be fixed with a tune? What would be the correct fix?

Well since I did everything stock I figured I wouldnt have any clearance issues. I have seen before of a tuner that tuned everything right and made the engine stop tunning. I didnt mean to sound retarted like that. I will try to find that post. Once again everything is all stock.

When you say "everything is stock" what do you mean? Did you put new bearings, rings, etc in? If so you should have everything clearanced/checked. You cant just take it apart, put new bearings in and throw it back together. There are a lot of parts moving real fast very close to each other. Things need to be precise.

I had my friend build it for me. He is a mechanic at a GM dealership and builds LSX motors all the time. Im going to take it back to him so he can listen to it. I just wanted to get some ideas of what can it be so that I can tell my friend what to look for.

Did you put new bolts in the main caps? If you reused the old ones, chances are they are streched... I have never reused a set without problem... You can make them work, but you have to put some brains into it. Most likely not your problem but it could be.

is it chattering or knocking. valvetrain doesnt really knock. it chatters as there are a lot of moving parts. you pull the valve covers off and check for looseness around the rockers and what not. if its real loud. could have a bent pushrod, collapsed lifters, rockers not tightened just to name a few.
