Im rebuilding my t56 and i need some ideas on what shift forks to put in. My 5-6 fork was a little bent, and all the factory plastic fork pads were falling apart. I dont want to run in to this issue again down the road so I just need to know what is the best forks and or fork pads to buy.

The only upgraded fork available is the 3-4. The pads should all be replaced with Bronze ones for about $100. I've never had a 5-6 or Rev fork go bad, how are you determining that it's bent?

(I've got a stack of old 5-6 and REV forks that you're welcome to one for shipping costs..)

(( Some older '93/'94 LT1 units had skimpy 1-2 shift forks that I replace with late-model versions.. They're under $20 new))

This is my first tranny rebuild so im just guessing. But i know all the shift fork pads are torn up real bad. The tranny has about 100,000 on it. Dont know if thats a common problem or not. The reason i think the fork is bent on 5-6 is because when the tranny was in the car it wouldnt go in to 6th gear at all. the gear and the sincros look good now that i have it tore down. But the fork pad was missing. Was that just a shift fork issue?

Nope, not a fork issue, just the fork pad issue.. Put a full set of bronze pads on all four forks and you won't have to deal with broken pads again.

On the Fifth gear assembly, we find the common signs of wear. The shift fork on the upper right has worn black pads on the ends. On the gears the points at the tip of each gear are rounded off
