00 camaro ss
how much should a 00 camaro ss cost, car has 120k miles, its a six speed, ebony leather interior, and a custom cam with headers. other than the cam and headers car is completely stock. car is red, paint is a 8 out of 10 and interior will be 8 out of 10 too. the guy is asking for 5500 for it, oh and he's the second owner, forgot to mention it is a clean title, is this a good buy?
thanks in advance....

$5500 may be OK but it depends if it needs anything or repairs. Are the tires OK or do you need a quick $600-$800 to replace them? Do the brakes have a year or two left or do you need some component there soon? How's the clutch and tranny after all those miles? Have all the fluids been changed recently or do you need to lay out for that? Any documented maintenance? Your $5500 could turn into $8500 before you ever see 2010 so do your homework or you will be out thousands if you need to sell. I also think you are grading a 120k mileage car too high. 8 out of 10?? That would be quite impressive after all that driving. Take an impartial friend with you and ask for an honest assessment. I hope the car is everything you want but don't buy a 'money pit'.

k, the guy said he's replacing the clutch, the brakes and a window motor, i guess thats all it needs for the amount of miles it has. since the car is red, the paint doesn't look bad at all and i did take my wife, keeping in mind that she's opposing me buying the car lol, but she also said the exterior looks pretty nice. got to drive it around and it doesn't rattle or anything like that. what else could it need, it still has the 3.42 gears and the guy said he's driven it to el paso, houston, dallas, and now return home where i'm located deep in south texas, so i'm taking thats why it has so many miles.

If he is doing all that work and still selling it for $5500 that's certainly sounding better. You ask what else could go wrong on a 120k mileage car? Try everything! Any part of the a/c unit is ultra expensive just for starters. Do your homework and good luck!

Jump on that car. Sounds great. Get used tires off craigslist or junk yard. see if he replaced the radiator. If not do it asap. Should change the water pump at the same time. Let the car run and keep an eye on the temperature if it stays cold, buy it. If you don't here knocking or pinging in the motor buy it. jump on it. I would be doing back flips for that car if I didn't have one already. Good luck, John You might want to consider t-tops if they have them or not
