4l60e Fluid leak - Out of Elec. Connection Port So I have not drove my vehicle yet. Bought a Rebuilt 4l60e and today I was plugging in the electronic harness to the transmission, and the port pushed down towards the trans pan about a 1/4" and then fluid started leaking out?? I was baffled, and have no idea if this is normal or what I can do to fix it. I fear this transmission is going to give me nothing but trouble. I do want to mention that I have just filled it with fluid for the first time, and still havent fired the engine or drove on the trans yet. I know the fluid still needs to be worked thru the trans and torque converter... but I am assuming it should never come out of the electrical connection port??? This ever happen to anyone?

Sounds like one of two things. First either the plug was damaged from the get go. Meaning it was installed with broken tabs on the connector that keep it from doing what yours is doing. Or when it was installed it was bumped on the tunnel area when it was jacked up into the vehicle. Basically causing the same thing. I would get with who built the unit for you and see what they want to do here for you. There are a couple options. First is to get a new or good used harness reinstalled. Or there is a repair bracket that sonnax sells that has to be installed inside the trans to hold the connector in place. Hope this helps. Vince

Is it just a matter of dropping the pan to add this new bracket?
How involved is it to put a new harness inside the transmission?

In order to do the complete harness the 1-2 accumulator housing will have to be removed, the epc solenoid and also the pwm lock up solenoid. After doing this it is pretty straight forward. I think the sonnax solution is easier. Good luck and glad to help. Vince
